Hi, I don’t think there’s a starting point for starting in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and maths) because we all do it at school! For me, I’ve just kept going because I enjoy it so much 😉
I’d say from starting my undergraduate degree, since that was when I ‘officially’ made the choice to do a scientific career, so 18 for me. But I loved science in school too, so I think I was always going to go that route anyway.
I guess, when I had the choice of subject and took more science GCSEs I started on the ‘STEM’ track. However, I still did non STEM subject – even at University where I French with my Physics degree in first and third year!

I guess I was 22 when I started my proper scientist training (I did this by starting what is called a PhD) and have worked in science ever since.
