      That is a great question!

I think I liked history when I was a kid because I loved reading stories, and thought it was even more exciting when those stories were about real people. I also loved thinking about how people lived differently in the past, and imagine how it must have been like before all of our modern tools and technologies were invented (before cars, trains, phones, TV, electricity…. and further back in time: before lighters, matches, steel, books…). I think it is fascinating to look back at the past and see how clever human societies were to make a lot of things with little tools, and how people gradually invented more tools and discovered new technics to make their lives easier. Without all of these past societies and their discoveries, we wouldn’t have all the technologies and comfort we enjoy today! 🙂

And when I got a bit older, I got more interested in ‘how can we know so much about things that happened so long ago’?, and though it was amazing that researchers could find clues about the past from old texts and from digging things up in the ground. Just llike Detective work! 🙂
