When I was a student, I volunteered on an excavation in France to see what it was like to dig up dinosaur bones. And that was hard work! After a week of digging through the bedrock, I found the leg bone of a herbivorous dinosaur, from species called Ampelosaurus (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ampelosaurus). But that was my only experience with dinosaur bones, and definitely the largest fossil bone I have ever found! 🙂

As I usually dig on archaeological sites that are much younger (from human occupations from about 80,000 to 30,000 years ago), the bones we find are usually smaller: from horses, deers, or mountain goats.
