Since the pandemic I have been working from home. I have been analysing antibiotic prescriptions within UK primary care to understand if general practitioners are following guidelines on antibiotic prescriptions used to treat urinary tract infections. I am particularly interested in ways that we can address any inappropriate antibiotic prescribing ( i.e giving antibiotics unnecessarily )

My Typical Day:
I get up at 8 am and am by my desk at 8:30 am! Then check my emails if i have any meetings to attend or catch up with my supervisor – all ready for writing, analysing or publishing data . I spend most of the day reading or writing up articles related to my research

I do several things in a day and no two days are the same but here are some activities you may find me doing
attending meetings to get latest updates on scientific discoveries within my research
Looking at prescribing data for urinary tract infections and seeing which demography of patients is most affected by this type of prescribing and why
Looking at different scientific papers within my field to summarise what they say and state how my research will contribute to the already existing evidence
Once they day is done – I may go out for a run or a walk depending on how am feeling
-
What I'd do with the prize money:
I would use it towards attending work shops and conferences to represent my research findings and bring awareness to the problem of antibiotic resistance
